What should I do if my boss does not take a vacation, but my soul requires rest and travel? Do not despair and choose a convenient destination for a one–day trip - we have collected some of the most popular options for you.
From Voronezh
The simplest solution is a trip to the region, to one of the interesting locations – the Oldenburg Palace Complex, the Losev–Shatilov-Stal von Holstein Estate or to the town of Ostrogozhsk.
The Oldenburg Palace complex is located in Ramoni. This is a unique building for the Voronezh region, the complex was built at the end of the 19th century. The owner of the palace was Eugenia of Oldenburg, the granddaughter of Emperor Nicholas II. Today you can walk around the palace and visit the exhibition. The palace complex is very beautiful and built in the Neo-Gothic style. Once here, you will not only escape from everyday work and be inspired by the views, but you will also be able to make many beautiful shots.
The estate of the Losevs-Shatilovs-Stal von Holstein is located in Repny. The estate has an interesting history – for some time the house belonged to the great-grandfather of the poet Dmitry Venevitinov. However, during the entire period of ownership of the estate, its owners changed at least seven times. At the same time, the house was managed to be kept in good condition.
The estate stands in a picturesque place, on the banks of the Usmanka River. Tourists can stroll around the surrounding area, take a look at the beautiful old park. The building has been renovated, and today it is a cultural heritage site.
The I.Kramskoy House Museum and Gallery in Ostrogozhsk is another location that can be visited in a day. Residents of Voronezh and the region, as well as tourists, visiting the cultural center, learn a lot of new and interesting things about life in the Voronezh region many years ago. The local gallery is considered one of the best, featuring works by artists such as Kuindzhi, Aivazovsky, Shishkin, etc.
After walking through museums and estates, check into a cozy merchant–style hotel - you can book a room at the Yamskoy Hotel in a couple of minutes. All necessary amenities are offered to guests; there is a cafe on site where delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners are prepared in the best Russian traditions. If you need to work, go to a coworking, and for relaxation, a sauna/hammam is open.
From St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is known not only for its museums and beautiful houses, but also for its suburbs. If you have only one day to travel, choose one of the following routes:
- Komarovo. This is a cozy and quiet suburb of St. Petersburg, where you can relax for 1-2 days. It is beautiful here both in summer and in winter, but in the off-season a strong frosty wind blows from the bay, so you should dress warmer if you want to go ashore. Komarovo also has an eco-trail – an ideal option for those who want to be alone with nature and their own thoughts. Sights of Komarovo: Anna Akhmatova's cottage, the necropolis and the preserved remains of Villa Reno, as well as Yukhnevich's beautiful country house in the Art Nouveau style;
- Peterhof. The fountains of Peterhof are known no less than museums and European-style streets of St. Petersburg, but people often go to the suburbs in the summer to admire the fountains. Winter travel has its advantages – the park is quiet and peaceful, there are practically no tourists. It will take about six hours to explore the entire area. Despite the fact that the fountains are turned off in winter, there is something to see – there are pavilions on the territory of the park.
- Kronstadt. Going to the port city in the cold season, you should also take care of the availability of warm, non-draughty clothes. Here you can see huge gray ships, lighthouses and forts (through a viewing tube), go to St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral and, of course, take a walk in the park.
- Vyborg. A cozy old town with European architecture. The main attraction worth visiting is the medieval castle. But besides him, there are many interesting "burgher" houses and cafes in the city.
- Tsarskoye Selo. A day trip to Pushkin can be an excellent substitute for a week–long tour - there is a lot to see here. There are many palaces and parks on the territory of Pushkin, the most important of which is the Catherine Palace. And if you like the work of A.S. Pushkin, take a trip to the Lyceum.
You can also go to Karelia, however, the journey will take several hours, so it is better to allocate at least 2 days off for the trip.
From Moscow
A trip outside Moscow for one day can inspire you and give you strength and cheerfulness. There are many unique, distinctive towns with interesting history and architecture in the region.
Kolomna is suitable for a day trip. For the first time this city was mentioned in the chronicles from 1177, and today it is a point of attraction for many tourists. Kolomna has preserved the unique style of the county town. Stroll through the quiet, peaceful streets and take a look at the Kolomna Kremlin.
Another option for the "weekend" route is Sergiev Posad. This is one of the cities of the Golden Ring of Russia and an excellent location for a short trip. Here you can visit museums, stroll through the picturesque streets and drink tea in a cafe.
You can also go to Tver – a very cozy and beautiful city with affordable prices and excellent service. Start your walk around Tver from Trekhsvyatskaya Street, take a look at the Starovolzhsky Bridge, the Travel Palace and the art gallery.
From Yekaterinburg
There are many interesting places near Yekaterinburg where you can go, even if you only have one free day. One of these locations is the town of Sysert. You can walk along the streets of the city or go further – to the Bazhovsky Places Nature Park.
Another place to visit is the village of Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha, which houses the museum-reserve of wooden architecture.
And if you've been dreaming of seeing the northern lights for a long time, wait until the start of your week-long vacation and go on an unforgettable trip.
