The Yamskoy Postal Museum and the world's first monument to the mailbox. All this is now available at the Yamskoy Hotel.
Yamshchyna is a significant and interesting page in the history of Voronezh, which we are glad to come into contact with ourselves, to introduce the citizens and, of course, the guests of the city.
The museum exposition is located on the ground floor of the Yamskoy Hotel. The history of the Voronezh Region's post office is revealed through unique exhibits — originals and copies of items from post offices and travelers' belongings, photographs of ancient views of the city, official letters and private correspondence of the XIX century. The museum exposition will be available to both hotel guests and organized groups.
How was the postal station set up, and what were the duties of the stationmaster? Why were not only cargo but also passengers transported by mail? Why did compatriots and foreigners praise and scold the postal service? Our guests and tourists will learn about the peculiarities of the Yamsky business and the development of the postal service, about the history of the Great Circassian Postal Tract, which included Voronezh. And also, dipping a pen in ink, sign a postcard in the style of the epochs when Voronezh was a provincial city.
And at the entrance to the parking lot, our guests are greeted by the world's only commemorative sign dedicated to an augmented reality mailbox. The realistic monument includes a milestone and a mailbox, created in honor of the 175th anniversary of the mailbox in Russia."
