On Valentine's Day, you can really surprise and please your soulmate by organizing a joint trip. One of the best ways to celebrate a holiday for couples is to spend time together, away from the hustle and bustle. And if it doesn't work out to "break out" on a weekday tour, you can reschedule the trip for the weekend. We have collected some of the most interesting and beautiful locations for a 2-3 day trip.

Romantic trip by car

The best and most convenient option for many is a trip by car. For traveling, it is better to choose one of the popular destinations to drive along a well-equipped highway and stop for a rest if the road turns out to be too long.

One of these destinations is Crimea. Already in February, warming begins here, which means that you can leave fur coats and warm sweaters at home and bask in the sun while strolling along the beautiful embankments.

Other routes for traveling by car:

  • Sochi, Gelendzhik, Anapa. A great option for those who miss the warmth and the sea. You won't be able to swim in February, but you can walk around the city, visit interesting museums and take a photo together in a photo booth.
  • Rostov-on-Don. The city of the South of Russia is very colorful, beautiful and bright. You can walk along the streets of Rostov, starting your route from the Central Department Store. Take a look at Bolshaya Sadovaya Street and walk to the Theater Square. On Valentine's Day, you can go to one of the cafes or bakeries, drink delicious coffee and take interesting photos near ancient buildings. The most spectacular locations are the Yablokov trading house, the City Duma building and the apartment building of merchant Gench–Ogluev.
  • Kaliningrad. It is a city with European architecture, access to the bay and many interesting buildings. Once in Kaliningrad and the region, you will be able to see castles and castle ruins, Gothic churches, as well as cozy half-timbered houses.
  • Saint-Petersburg. St. Petersburg has received the unofficial name of the "city of love", so coming here on February 14th is a great idea! You will not be bored in St. Petersburg, you can organize a rich program for your loved one - visiting museums and exhibitions, a walk along Nevsky Prospekt, lunch in one of the cozy cafes.
  • Moscow. Despite the fact that the holiday falls on a weekday, you can organize an evening walk around the city or reschedule it for a day off. Ideas for spending time together on February 14: visiting quests and museums, a walk through Alexandrovsky Park or Zaryadye Park. You can also take a look at the Patriarch's Ponds or VDNH.

The easiest way to diversify a walk on a festive day is by stopping at a cafe or cinema for an evening session.

Castle and old houses in Vyborg

Ancient buildings and a preserved castle built in 1293 make Vyborg one of the most unusual and romantic cities in Russia. Once here, you can briefly fall out of reality, worries and problems, walk along the ancient streets, try the Vyborg pretzel and go out to the bay.

Locations to visit:

  • Vyborg Castle. A medieval fortress, the only one that has been preserved in the country. The fortress has recently been renovated, so now you can see the beautiful white walls of the towers and walk around the well-kept courtyard. And to surprise your soulmate, buy a ticket to the tower – to the observation deck, which offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding area.
  • The clock tower. Another of the oldest attractions in Vyborg is the Clock Tower. You can take beautiful photos near it or go inside. The Clock Tower also has an observation deck.
  • The house of the Merchant Guild. The building was built in the XIV century and has been preserved to this day. The facade was renovated, during which the original appearance of the house was completely preserved. The Merchant Guild House is one of the oldest buildings in the city.
  • The house of a citizen. The house is built in the Gothic style, presumably built in the XVI century. This is the oldest residential building in Russia, it belongs to the category of "burgher" houses.

For a walk around Vyborg, 1-2 days will be enough to see all the sights.

Mountains and cable car in Ai-Petri

A romantic vacation option for February 14 is a trip to the Crimea, to the cable car in Ai-Petri. The cable car is the best way to get to the top of the mountain and admire the beautiful scenery of the region.

Just fifteen minutes, and you can admire the beautiful views from a height – a magnificent panorama of the sea opens from the site. The trees in Crimea are green even in February – the reason for this is the southern climate.

However, the cable car is not the only attraction of Ai–Petri. Also here you can see the Great Crimean Canyon, the Uchan-Su waterfall and the Silver Gazebo. 1-2 days will be enough to explore the beautiful locations.

Ancient temples of Veliky Novgorod and the Vitoslavlitsa Museum

Once in Veliky Novgorod, you can "travel back" in time. The atmosphere of Ancient Russia has been completely recreated in the city itself and in the Museum of wooden architecture of Vitoslavlitsa. You will be able to see in which houses people lived, how they built their way of life.

In one day in Veliky Novgorod you can see the most popular sights – the Kremlin and the Kremlin Park, Sofia Square, Yaroslavovo Dvorishche and Rurikovo gorodishche.

You can also spend a February holiday in Voronezh by staying at the Yamskoy Hotel, built on the former Yamsky Tract of Voronezh. All amenities are provided for guests – there is a cafe, coworking and sauna/hammam. You can book a room for any date using the form on the website.
