Not only biologists and geologists can visit national parks and reserves, but also those who love nature. In Russian parks, sanctuaries and reserves, there are paths for tourists, and in some places you can rent a house and stay on the trip for 1-2 days, relax and spend time in silence.
Bogdinsky-Baskunchak Nature Reserve
One of the most popular places in the Astrakhan region is the Bogdinsky–Baskunchak Nature Reserve. To get to this location, you will have to drive almost to the border with Kazakhstan, to the Akhtuba district. However, the road is picturesque and interesting, you will not be bored on the road.
The easiest option is to go by private car, but you can also use public transport. In one or two days you will be able to see how wild animals live, admire the picturesque cliffs and nature. The best time to travel is mid–spring – early summer. Meadows are covered with a variety of flowers. The Baskunchak Nature Reserve was created in order to protect the rich flora and fauna of the region, it is important to remember this when going on a trip and treat the environment with special attention and respect.
Lena pillars
Once in Yakutia, visit one of the most popular attractions – Lena Pillars. You can get to them by boat or motor ship from Yakutsk.
Walking through this area, you can easily imagine how many years ago there were ancient animals here – and this is not just fiction. Scientists have found the fossilized remains of trilobites, estimated to be more than 500 million years old.
Elbrus region
The National Park in Kabardino-Balkaria is worth visiting for every lover of beautiful views and luxurious, breathtaking photos. You can get to the park by bus or taxi from Nalchik or Minvod. The Elbrus region is a great place to disconnect and go into your own thoughts, inspired by the views of the mountains. And if you are a person who needs company and communication, stay at a hotel in a clearing and go on short excursions to the waterfall or along the Narzan Clearing.
Moose Park
All residents of Moscow and the region who are thinking about where to go for the weekend should visit the Losiny Ostrov National Park. The road to it does not take much time, you can arrive both by private transport and by train /bus.
You will not be bored in the park – you can listen to the singing of the robin, walk in silence along the forest trails and watch the moose and deer, as well as how the beavers equip their homes. Such excursions are especially interesting for children, who immediately begin to feed moose with carrots. You can also walk along the ecotrope and climb the observation tower, the main thing is not to enter specially protected areas so as not to disturb the animals.
Wrangel Island
When all the popular attractions of the country have already been visited, I want to go to a completely new, truly unusual location and this is Wrangel Island. Here you can see polar bears and walruses, gray whales and, of course, admire the nature of the north. It will also be interesting for bird lovers – puffins, cormorants and polar owls live on the island. It is best to come as part of a tour group, or book accommodation in advance.
And if you have already visited all the national parks or are not ready to leave far from civilization yet, pay attention to our selection of ancient temples in Russia and organize a weekend trip.
