5 unobvious, but cool locations for a walk around Voronezh

The unofficial name of Voronezh is "The Capital of the Black Earth region" and it really is. The city is located on fertile lands, but it is also the cradle of the navy. That is why there are many marine-themed museums in Voronezh. But once in the city you will find other unusual locations for walking – we have collected 5 of the most interesting places that are definitely worth a visit.

Accordion house
One of the strangest, but at the same time beautiful houses in Voronezh is the accordion house on 94 Karl Marx Street. This four–storey building is built in such a way that one facade is located sideways to the other. It may seem that several houses are attached to each other, but this is just one house of unusual shape. Once here, you can have a photo shoot or just stand and admire the wonder of architecture.

Ramona Castle
Locals are especially fond of the landmark located in the village of Ramon, Voronezh region. This is the palace, or even the real castle, of the Princess of Oldenburg. The castle is built in the Neo-Gothic style and is an excellent location for walks and photo shoots. The main feature is that such buildings are completely out of character for local lands, and therefore attract increased attention from residents and tourists.

The Archaeological Museum "Kostenki"
Another attraction of the Voronezh region is the archaeological museum "Kostenki". This is a great location for those who want to go back to ancient times and see ancient objects with their own eyes. In total, there are twenty–five security zones on the territory of the museum - this is a huge territory, so it's worth taking more time to visit it! Walking through the museum, you will see the remains of a dwelling built in the Stone Age, as well as many other unusual and fascinating archaeological finds.

Rotunda
There are many historical and military monuments on the territory of Voronezh, and the Rotunda is one of them. It dates back to the time of the Second World War. During the battles, the building belonging to the children's hospital was almost completely destroyed – today you can only see what has been preserved. The fighting lasted for a very long time, more than 200 days, so only ruins remained of the rotunda.

Tikhvin Church
Entering the central part of Voronezh, you will be able to see Tikhvin-Onufrievsky Church. The temple was built in the middle of the 18th century and was created as a family temple of the Gardenin family of Manufacturers. This is a place with a very long and interesting history and beautiful architecture, so be sure to visit!
